There were two of these AMX Javelin made for Alabama State Troopers in 1971-72 as test cars to see if lighter weight, more maneuverable cars were more beneficial than the big old police cars of the time. Yeah I guess a 401-V8, power steering & disc brakes might help.

The Javelin was the first pony car to be used as a police vehicle. After this there have been Mustang, Camaro, Chargers…
